The timetable of 1887 shows only 4 trains a day, both north and south, stopping at Bottesford, but it was possible to “stop” four more if required!Bottesford West box on the Grantham to Nottingham line. The last remaining of four boxes at all compass points this box was retained to control the junction with the freight line to Newark (now closed). A lever frame controls semaphore and colour lights.
