For the engine work you propose, you need a much bigger machine, especially for milling. Boring cylinders requires a very rigid machine otherwise you'll get chatter. Forget about an 8" face mill. Has anybody seen or used a Bolton CNC MILL? also called GREAT-150iM ? I just came across an Ebay listing for one and I'm shocked at how inexpensive it is with all of its features.
