World No. 2 Alexander Zverev will play 12th seed Tommy Paul in the second quarter-final of the Australian Open 2025vvjl, men's singles event at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park on Tuesday, January 21. (Full Coverage | More Tennis News)

Zverev, a two-time semi-finalist (2020 and 2024), has dropped only one set in four games at the season-opening Grand Slam, in the round of 16 win over 14th seed Ugo Humbert. Before that, the 27-year-old German had dispatched Lucas Pouille, Pedro Martinez, and Jacob Fearnley with consummate ease.

Paul, 27, had a relatively easier draw -- no seeded opponent so far -- but the American was forced to dig deep against Christopher O'Connell in the opening round, a five-setter, then dropped a set against returning Kei Nishikori. In the subsequent rounds, however, the 2023 semi-finalist played probably his best tennis to beat Roberto Carballes Baena and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Alexander Zverev Vs Tommy Paul Head-To-Head

Paul leads Zverev 2-0 in the head-to-head records, both on hard court at Acapulco 2020 in straight games and at Indian Wells 2022 in three sets.

And Zverev knows what he needs. "I’ve got to be at my best,” he said after beating Humbert. "I've got to play the way I did the first week -- hopefully a little bit better."

The winner will take on either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz. The star players take the court later Tuesday.

Live Streaming Details

The high-voltage clash between Zverev and Paul will be telecast live on the Sony Sports Network TV channels in India. It will be live streamed on the Sony Liv app and website in the country.

Starting the tournament as clear favourites, Paris Olympics bronze-medallists India haven't disappointed so far, beating hosts China 3-0, Japan 5-1, trouncing Malaysia 8-1 before registering a 3-1 victory against Korea in their last match.

These two teams are meeting for the first time in the tournament in pool stage.vvjl
